Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/synopsis : The war-on-drugs assumes all casual users are corrupted equally. It separates family, love, loyalty, and all positive social structures into protectionist policies, while ignoring the fact that casual users likewise demonstrate all of these qualities. It keeps the testimonial as its logo, and ignores the fact that experience holds no secrets. It calls casual use bad and sobriety good. And ignores that in all practical terms the two are simply different. This book is structured as a debate between two opponents, one pro drug-choice, the other against. Using a point-counterpoint style the two present their best and worse case experiences. Though there is a logical structure to the presentation of ideas, I have labored to make the debate seem as natural as possible. The intent of the book may seem to build a case for the legalization of certain drugs, however, my greater intent is this: to present the ideas and voices of those too long dismissed in this debate. Most people believe there are only two sides to an argument. This is a false assumption, for there is right, wrong, and neutral. This oft overlooked third alternative I have relegated to the footnotes. I would encourage you to not just read passively, but rather engage the conversation with your own arguments. My best hope is this, you will come to see the world in ways you have, till now, overlooked.

Book excerpt/synopsis : EQUALITY 7-2521 has vowed one day to return and free his brothers. Now that day has come! An action-packed and thought-provoking sequel to Ayn Rand's 1937 novella Anthem, set in a future dystopia where the singular pronoun has been removed from human language. Every event of every day is determined by The World Council. Life ends at 40. "And the day will come when I shall break all the chains of the earth, and raze the cities of the enslaved, and my home will become the capital of a world where each man will be free to exist for his own sake." - Prometheus True to the Objectivist philosophy, "I" presents essential tenets of metaphysics and epistemology in an entertaining continuation of Rand's classic dystopian tale. "We heard that you had gone to the Uncharted Forest, for all the City is speaking of it." - Liberty 5-3000 After Equality Comes Liberty! * * * * Reviews "A non-stop, compulsively readable, brilliant, powerful book. Visit a world of heartache, honor and hope and discover what you owe your brother, how to begin to think for yourself, and find the meaning of freedom. This book grabs you from the beginning and brings you from the shadows into the light as you meet new heroes. An incredible accomplishment." - Nettie, Goodreads "I loved this book and I think even Ms. Rand would smile upon it knowingly. It gives depth to her rational concepts without sacrificing their integrity in any way. Even more importantly, it evokes a sense of urgency about the ever-looming perils of totalitarian rule and what we as individuals can and must do to counter it. PS. This is also a triumphant love story. Sh-hhhhhh!" - Dr. Ellen K. Rudolph * * * * From the Back Cover "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..." EQUALITY 7-2521 has fled the collectivist city of his birth with LIBERTY 5-3000, leaving behind a rigid totalitarian state where absolute conformance is enforced and every thought and effort is given to one's brothers. There is no self, no individual, no personal desire. Only the whole is of value. We are all equal. For we are all are the same. INTERNATIONAL 4-8818 secretly mourns the loss of his brother, who surely must have perished in the Uncharted Forest, for none who enter there have ever returned. To feel sorrow is a sin. To do so for an enemy of the state is treason. We are one together. We are never alone. Then one day a paint-splattered image appears upon the walls of the Halls of Justice, a symbol of the one Unspeakable Word, for which the penalty is death... "I"

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/synopsis : Now in a thoroughly revised edition, this influential book offers a concise history of the "Vietnam War" as seen by all sides, not just from the American perspective. Retaining its invaluable account of the strategies, perspectives, and internal politics of the Vietnamese Communists based on research in primary documents and interviews in Saigon and Hanoi, this completely updated and expanded edition incorporates the avalanche of documentation and secondary literature in both English and Vietnamese that has appeared over the past two decades. Distinguished scholar William S. Turley traces the conflict from its origins in the colonial period to its aftermath and shows how the local, national, regional, and global layers of conflict blended into a single event of great complexity. He takes a refreshingly objective look at contentious issues and concludes with a penetrating assessment of the claims, justifications, and "lessons" that scholars, statesmen, and strategists have advanced since the war's end. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt/synopsis : On 25 April 1915, with the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) below the slopes of Sari Bair on the Gallipoli peninsula, the ANZAC legend was born. Nine months later, having suffered thousands of casualties from disease, hand-to-hand fighting, bombing, sniping and forlorn charges across no man’s land, the politicians and senior military commanders in London called it quits. While the Turks also suffered terribly, they at least emerged victorious. The fighting at Anzac was not restricted to the ANZACs and Turks alone. British troops also fought at Anzac from the earliest days of the invasion and large numbers of British and Indian troops were committed to the Anzac sector during the failed August offensive designed to break the stalemate. The invasion was also supported by large numbers of men — often non-combatants — who performed vital roles. Naval beach officers kept logistics operating in some form of ‘orderly’ fashion; Indian mule handlers moved supplies of food, water and ammunition to the front lines; and medical staff and army chaplains worked on the beach, caring for the wounded and the dead. All these men were frequently under fire from the Turkish battery known as ‘Beachy Bill’. Others surveyed the narrow beachhead and bored deep holes for drinking water; signallers tried desperately to establish and maintain communications; and the gunners hunted the battlefield for suitable places to site their guns. Off the peninsula, but just as vital, were the nursing and medical staff on the hospital ships, at Lemnos, Alexandria, Cairo and Malta, and the airmen who flew above the battlefield spotting for the navy and artillery. Shadows of Anzac: An intimate history of Gallipoli tells the story of the ‘ordinary’ men and women who participated in the Gallipoli campaign from April to December 1915 and gave the Anzac legend meaning. Drawing on letters, diaries and other primary and secondary sources, David Cameron provides an intimate and personal perspective of Anzac, a richly varied portrayal that describes the absurdity, monotony and often humour that sat alongside the horrors of the bitter fight to claim the peninsula.
